Our Committee 2017/18

Club Captain: Anna Donten
Role: I am responsible for the communications with AU and organising work of the Club’s Committee (you might think of our group as a think tank that is working hard to improve your fencing experience).

Degree: PhD Medicine 2nd year (yes, I know where to stab so it hurts)
Weapon of Choice: Épée
Favourite Food/Drink : Wild strawberries and Earl Grey.
Hometown: I am from Warsaw (Poland), but Manchester is my home now.
Most likely to be found in: my office, lost in thoughts.
Favourite club/fencing moment: There are these duels when you do not care anymore who wins, how many points, basically anything, because they are just so incredibly fun!
Best #purpleandproud moment: basically all the time with our Women’s Team – that is when I realised how much I care for the Club.

 

Treasurer: Kieran Jones
Role: I’m the guy who’s in charge of the club funds, everything from membership fees to buying new kit for you to use. Feel free to talk if you owe the club, have any suggestions on where we should spend or even if we owe you for anything!

Favourite food: Chocolate, without a doubt.

Most likely to be found in: Probably at home, the AT building or travelling between the two.
Favourite club moment: Has to be winning the BUCS League in my first year on the team!
Best #purpleandproud moment: Finding out fencing had been picked to be part of the university’s advert for Sports Manchester.

 

Women’s Captain: Tamara Jordaki
Role: As Women’s Team I’ll be responsible for the smooth running of team matches and anything related to that! But of course every committee member is here to help you get the most out of your time at Fencing, so grab me for a chat anytime!

Favourite club moment: I love the Christmas dinner!
Best #purpleandproud moment: representing UoM at the Christie Cup is probably my one of my favourite moments.

 

Men’s Team Captain: Morgan Parker
Role: My job is to effectively manage the men’s team, this entails getting to matches, making sure team members attend training and more importantly, deciding who’s on the team. If you have any questions about joining the team or how to improve I’m here to help!

Most likely to be found in: Looking for coffee, drinking coffee, the gym, the Manchester Fencing Centre, usually some sports hall in the middle of nowhere on weekends (a.k.a. a fencing competition)
Favourite club moment: I spend my whole year looking forward to the annual summer BBQ!

Armourer:  Amin Namjoynik
Role: Hello there. Fencer are ya? Let me guess, you’ve sprung some rivet or busted blade out there roamin’ about the court and you need ol’ Amin to make it right again.
